5 Easy but Effective Ways to Love Yourself

5 Easy Ways to Love Yourself | Self Love | Health Tips

Don’t you sometimes feel just blah? Like nothing really matters. Who cares what you’re wearing…you don’t really need to do your hair today, do you? I mean, you just got up and got everyone else ready and where they need to be. You just cleaned up all that toothpaste your daughter squirt all over your bedroom floor, battled her to do her hair and you’re just over it. Well guess what? Now it’s time for YOU! What does that even mean? It’s inevitable, we’ve all had the days where we’re super down on ourselves. It’s so important to love yourself! You need lovin’ too!  Now let’s brainstorm…here’s what I came up with. How can you love yourself?

1. Sweat at least once a day.

First of all, you’re more than likely not as fat as you think. You’re more critical about yourself than anyone else. Exercise because it is good for your soul and it releases endorphins and contributes to your level of happiness. It will help you feel better about yourself. Appreciate your body. Stop picking it apart, no one’s perfect. Move your body! Go to an intro kickboxing or yoga class (most are free).  Go for a walk. Even getting the teeniest little bit of exercise will make you feel so good… Be active. When you love yourself, you want to be good to yourself. If you love yourself you create a balance of exercise, healthy food, rest and fun.

2. Care about your appearance.

Care about how you look, so you can feel great when you leave the house. Of course, not in a superficial kind of way. Just in a way that makes you feel confident. Even if it’s just putting mascara on before your workout class or changing out of your sweats into your cut off shorts to run a quick errand. Sometimes even putting on some earrings makes me feel a little better. But…if you feel like wearing sweatpants and your hair in a bun to the grocery store once in a while, go for it! There are times when I go a month (or two) past when I should have gotten my hair done. My roots are waaaay too long. I feel like a million bucks once I leave that salon! Or I can even get my eyebrows waxed, eyelash extensions, a pedicure or even just whiten my teeth. It doesn’t have to be all at once, but just doing something small for your appearance can go a long way. You don’t have to go all smoky eyed but looking presentable, from your hairstyle to the shoes you wear, will work wonders for your confidence.

3. Go to bed early.

There is something so refreshing and restorative about going to bed early. We all need our sleep in order to function. If you’ve been going to bed late and waking up early, it’s time to treat yourself.  Change your sheets. Light a candle in your bedroom, or spray some lavender essential oil on your pillow. Turn off your phone and close your laptop…take a bubble bath at 8pm. Crawl into bed, slip on an eye-mask and just relax. Your husband can take care of the kids for once. And screw it, take a gummy melatonin if you need to! You will feel SO GOOD in the morning!

Here are some really good tips for getting a great night’s rest.

4. Do something – just for YOU.

Yes, this ties in with all the other ones but it’s so great when you do something just for you. Go out with your husband. Get a babysitter. Buy yourself presents. Save up money and travel somewhere new.  Drink that mimosa at brunch. Buy the expensive piece of salmon at the grocery store and have it for lunch. Treat yourself to something you want but don’t need. New outfit anyone? Cute shoes or purse? Just do it! Everyone needs to cut themselves a break now and again.

 5. Be grateful.

Last but not least, focus on everything you have. Once you realize how many things you have to be grateful for – you’ll start opening up to all the ways you can love yourself. Enjoy the life you have been given, and embrace each day and stop comparing yourself to others. You have so much to be thankful for!
