How To Glow Up And Feel Your Best

A glow up is something that makes you glow from the inside out by forming healthy habits that help you grow as a person.

You can glow up after a breakup or even a difficult time in your life. You’ve finally decided to start doing something to put yourself first, and as a result, you embark on an empowering journey to help yourself become the best version of yourself.

A glow up is time spent on yourself to improve yourself through self-care activities that make you shine and “glow” from the inside out. It’s a comprehensive makeover that makes you more appealing, confident, attractive, and radiant.

But why wait until something bad happens? You deserve to feel and look your best anytime you feel like it!

With these amazing ways to glow up mentally and physically, you’ll feel more confident than ever. And that starts now!

What Exactly Does Glow Up Mean?

A Glow Up is a positive mental, physical, and emotional transformation. Glow Ups might be spontaneous or pre-planned. In addition to being progressive and permanent, it can also be just a one time thing to make you look and feel better.

The most crucial aspect of a glow up is a boost in self-esteem!

Confidence may take many forms, and each of the suggestions and tidbits in this guide will help you love yourself even more.

Here’s just a few things that a glow up can do for you:

  • Feel better and more powerful.
  • Get to know yourself and your health better.
  • Create positive habits (and minimize bad ones).
  • Boost your confidence!
  • Increased natural energy and health overall.
  • Form new, healthful behaviors.
  • Mood improvement.
  • More restful sleep.
  • You’ll lose weight or gain weight (depending on your objectives!)
  • Make an effort to live a healthier lifestyle.
  • Mind at ease.
  • Improve your physical appearance.
  • You’ll develop a stronger sense of self-worth!

To look and feel your best, focus on your wellness, health, and mental qualities. It might be difficult to prioritize self-care, especially when you’re dealing with a bad mood, a lack of motivation, or anxiety…but doing a few things for yourself can help to push a large portion of these negative sensations away.

Ways to Glow Up Your Health

It’s not only about how your body looks when it comes to glowing up. It’s all about leading a healthy lifestyle so you can look, feel, and live better and healthier.

There are several things you may do to improve your physical appearance and get more confidence than ever before. Keep in mind that the goal is for you to feel fantastic.

Drink More Water

The best method to boost your health is to stay hydrated. It benefits your skin, hair, nails, and internal organs! Dehydration is the leading cause of a tired appearance and feeling.

The key to having clear skin is hydration. There are also many other key benefits for drinking water like increased energy and focus, it helps with weight loss, it increases physical performance, and improves your mood.

At least half of your body weight (in ounces) should be consumed in water. If you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink at least 75 ounces of water each day. (3)

Here’s a simple trick if you constantly forgetting to remain hydrated. Having a cute water bottle can help you develop this good habit of drinking water while also serving as a stylish accent.

Exercise Every Day

I’m not just talking about a physical glow up, I’m talking about mentally as well. Exercise will give you more energy, improve your attitude, and make you more self-assured.

Just 15 minutes of exercising each day can completely transform your life and make you glow. Exercising is beneficial to your skin, health, physical attractiveness, emotions, hormones, and self-confidence.

Exercise in whatever way that makes you happy! It doesn’t matter what you do, whether it’s going to the gym, dancing, or going for a walk, as long as you’re moving and having fun with it on a daily basis!

Here’s a few of my favorite exercise items for an at-home workout that I use myself:

Sleep More

This one’s easy! Allowing yourself to sleep more will assist your body in resting, recovering, and recharging.

Some benefits for a good night’s sleep are (1):

  • Getting enough sleep is essential if you’re attempting to lose weight.
  • Hormones that control appetite are affected by lack of sleep. People who get enough sleep eat fewer calories than people who don’t.
  • A good night’s sleep can improve problem-solving abilities and memory. Brain function has been shown to be harmed by insufficient sleep.
  • Many elements of athletic and physical performance have been found to improve with more sleep.

Add A New Detox Tea To Your Routine

A healthy physique with naturally glowing skin is a sign of good health. One of the most important stages to glowing up is to drink detox tea every day for a week.

For a skin detox choose a Hibiscus Tea.

For weight loss and more try an Oolong tea.

To support a healthy cleanse try a detox tea.

To Promote a good nights sleep go with passionflower.

For some stress relief, Kava really helps.

Your overall health can benefit from green tea.

Glow Up Your Self Care

Your glow up will never be complete unless you make every effort to love and care for yourself. It should be your primary goal! Add self-care exercises to your glow up routine to help you slow down and catch your breath.

Glow Up Your Body With A Self Tanner

Self-tanner is the most convenient way to achieve that sun-kissed glow. Self-tanner is also the safest way to go if you want a tan because spending long periods of time in the sun is dangerous.

What better way to appreciate and adore your skin than to take care of it and make it appear lovely the way you want it to? Self-tanning, like putting makeup before work and getting my nails done, is just something I do for myself to feel more secure in my body—which, like most beauty rituals, also has a great side effect: Some veins, UV damage, and blotchy redness are softly blurred.

I just look and feel better when I’m tan.

Find a Signature Scent

I don’t think there’s anything more satisfying than discovering a trademark perfume that complements your personality.

A signature perfume is similar to a well-chosen item. It displays our personal style and completes the look we’ve chosen. It has the ability to make us recognizable and memorable. It can also give us that extra boost we need to feel energized, powerful, and alluring.

Without saying anything, your signature perfume communicates something about you. It’s an outgrowth of your unique style—what you dress and do to make people remember you. When you wear the same scent all the time, people will remember you when they smell the same notes elsewhere.

Some of my favorite scents are:

My signature scent is Lancome Tresor.

The elegance of rose, mugent and lilac and the sparkle of peach and apricot blossom are just a few notes that define this luminous fragrance.

Lancôme Paris

Glow Up Your Hair

Hair has endless possibilities. Whether you have short or long hair you have so many options. Here are some ideas:

  • Trim your split ends.
  • Try a new color.
  • Get your roots colored.
  • Get highlights.
  • Get a whole new cut.
  • Get a Brazilian blow out.
  • Get it deep conditioned.
  • Try new products.
  • Try a new style.
  • Get some new accessories. Sometimes all it takes is a cute scrunchie or barrette!

Glow Up With Some New Self Care Methods

Get rid of the idea that there is a perfect or ideal method for self care. There are so many options these days, you should think out of the box and try something you’ve never done before!

Remember, a glow up starts from the inside and when you feel good, you look good.

Whole Body Cryotherapy

3 minutes for a freezing, energizing, once-in-a-lifetime sensation! Whole Body Cryotherapy exposes the body’s outer layer to extremely cold temperatures. Cryotherapy initiates a natural anti-inflammatory response and the production of endorphins are stimulated in the central nervous system, resulting in a flushing of toxins and an increase in energy.

People use cryotherapy for a variety of purposes, the most common being pain reduction and muscle repair.

Some cryotherapy practitioners say that a few minutes of cold will boost metabolism for the rest of the day. People eventually stop feeling cold, they believe, since their metabolism has altered and increased in reaction to the cold. (5)

I’m obsessed with cryotherapy. I have a membership and go as much as possible which is usually 4-5 times a week. You don’t have to go that often but I just love the euphoric feeling I get after going. I feel like it gives me energy and helps me sleep better. I love it!

Try Red Light Therapy

Red light treatment is gaining popularity everywhere these days, from dermatologists’ clinics to gyms, promising to cure all of your health problems with the flip of a switch—and it’s actually very legit.

When your cells are exposed to red light wavelengths, they undergo a number of regenerative processes, which may result in benefits such as younger-looking skin, improved muscle repair, and less scarring.

Anti-Aging

Anti-aging benefits are one of the most popular uses of red light therapy, and with good reason: there are numerous research that show its excellent anti-aging effects. Red light treatment enhances the formation of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin, according to a 2019 study published in The Journal of The American Academy Of Dermatology. (6)

Low-level red and infrared light therapies, in turn, can aid with skin laxity, fine lines, pore size, texture, and wrinkles, making them perfect “options for daily, at-home treatments for patients with photo-aging and photo-damaged skin.”

Weight Loss

If you’ve tried diets, appetite suppressants, and other weight loss procedures without success, red light therapy might be worth a try. Clinical studies have indicated that it can help people lose weight by reducing extra fat. (7)

Red light is unlikely to be your ideal fat-loss method if you eat an unhealthy diet and never exercise. Red light, on the other hand, may be able to give you the boost you need if you live a somewhat healthy lifestyle and only have a few stubborn areas that may need some additional support.

You can go somewhere like a spa or a gym to do red light therapy, but you can also do it in the comfort of your own home!

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage is a technique that involves using gentle movements to stimulate lymph flow throughout the body. It is also known as manual lymphatic drainage massage and is used to cure a number of health problems by restoring the immune system’s capabilities.

During the massage, the registered masseuse employs extremely light pressure and long strokes to circulate the lymph fluid in such a way that the organs can properly eliminate toxins. The masseuse will re-stimulate the lymphatic system and enhance the flow of lymph fluid in your body by using rhythmic hand strokes. (8)

It’s a good idea to get the treatment when you’re feeling particularly bloated, as it helps to reduce water retention. Other benefits are:

  • Boosts immunity.
  • Accelerate the healing and recovery process after a cold or flu.
  • Weight loss is aided by reducing water retention.
  • Cellulite, skin edema, scar tissue, acne, and stretch marks can all be improved.
  • Stress and weariness can be reduced.
  • Assist with post-workout recuperation.

Try Using A Vibration Plate

A vibration plate is a fitness training equipment that can help you burn more than 170 calories in just five minutes, increasing your weight loss potential. The vibration plate also works to activate muscles, promote lymph flow, lower blood pressure, and improve blood circulation and oxygenation. (4) You can find one at some gyms, spas, health care clinics and you can even purchase your own!

Benefits of a vibration plate are:

  • Get stronger muscles
  • Increased your bone mass
  • Increased your blood flow
  • Increased your flexibility
  • Stimulates your lymphatic system
  • Promotes a decrease in your cortisol levels (11)

Wood Therapy

In a nutshell, wood treatment involves the use of a variety of wooden massage-like implements to aid in the breakdown of fat and cellulite. The wooden devices are intended to apply direct pressure to “problem areas,” allowing extra body fat to be naturally eliminated. Wood therapy as we know it now is actually based on hundreds of years of old Oriental wood manipulation! (2)

Wood therapy is super relaxing and relieves stress. It can help with:

  • Releasing tense muscles.
  • Cellulite reduction and fat burning
  • Toxins are naturally removed from your body.
  • Increasing your metabolic rate.
  • Blood circulation and lymphatic drainage are stimulated.
  • and more!

Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a daily body massage with a dry, stiff-bristled brush that’s claimed to treat flaky winter skin, enhance circulation, detoxify, aid digestion, and even improve the look of cellulite.

Dry brushing can help lymphatic drainage, in addition to giving you radiant skin. Lymph fluid is carried in all blood and filters through the lymph nodes. Dry brushing increases the pace of blood circulation, which aids in the movement of lymph through the body, allowing toxins and infections to be removed more quickly.

It can also make you feel good since it stimulates your neurological system, which can leave you feeling energized afterward, similar to how receiving a massage does. (9)

Here’s how to dry brush:

  • Begin with your feet and work your way up your body.
  • Brush your skin in a wide, clockwise circular motion.
  • Apply gentle pressure to parts of thin skin and firmer pressure to areas of thicker skin, such as the soles of your feet.
  • After brushing your feet, legs, and mid-section, brush your arms. Brush upwards, towards your armpits.

To dry brush at home, all you need is a brush with natural fiber bristles. Look for one with a large handle to make it easier to reach all parts of your body.

How To Glow Up Your Face

Your face can reveal a lot about your physical and mental wellbeing. Here are some simple but vital beauty rituals that can help you achieve radiant, glowing skin.

Start a Skincare Routine

The first step in any excellent skincare routine is cleansing.

Toner is an optional step, however if you have a favorite toner, you should use it.

When choosing a vitamin C serum, make sure it has a stable form of the vitamin so that the molecule can absorb into your skin.

Moisturizer hydrates your skin while also assisting in the strengthening of your skin barrier. Choose a milder moisturizer for daytime use that will absorb rapidly and won’t create pilling under makeup.

Next is the most important step in your skincare routine.  SPF.

SPF

Even if you adore your tanned skin, failing to use sunscreen is one of the most damaging things you can do to your skin. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the time to start by including it into your weekly regimen. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

The sun gives you that wonderful tan, but its UV rays can cause substantial damage to your skin (both short- and long-term). Even if you don’t spend the entire day in the sun, a few UV rays as you go to and from your car can build up to a lot of harm over time.

As a result, you should use SPF every day to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. A morning moisturizer with an SPF of 15/30 is recommended. There are many light, non-greasy moisturizers available that will not clog your pores while protecting you from the sun’s harmful rays.

Shape Your Eyebrows

Every now and then, all brows require a little attention. Check to see if your brows are even or if they need to be tidied up. Is it necessary to pluck or shape them? Are they too thin, and you’d like them to appear fuller?

Get your eyebrows waxed, threaded or tinted. Consider microblading!

If you’re more of a DYI beauty girl, you have options! Shaping your brows has progressed since the early aughts’ over-plucking. The once-frightening DIY beauty idea is actually a lot easier than you think. Eyebrows that are bolder, freer, and fuller have replaced those that are narrow and angular.

Here are some tools to help:

Don’t Forget Your Lips

Soft and luscious lips really do make a difference, especially when you wanna go commando on makeup. And you really don’t need to put much effort into it. Exfoliate your lips very gently every morning. Also, use a lip balm at least twice a day.

Glow Up With Healthy White Teeth

The most beautiful thing a human body can have is a smile. Of course, it all depends on your mood and your sparkling whites.

According to studies, having a set of healthy, gleaming teeth makes you appear more attractive, wealthy, educated, and even younger! While I don’t believe all of this, I do believe that healthy teeth are a sign of overall good health. (10)

So go ahead and grab those whitening strips or mouthwashes (for a stronger effect) and get started. After brushing, I like to rub salt+lemon for around 10-20 seconds. This cleans your teeth thoroughly and whitens them naturally in a week.

Glow Up With A Face Mask

If you want that extra glow up overnight, let’s do the skincare routine a little bit deeper this time and add a face masks to those steps!

However, you shouldn’t be applying a face mask every night. Try to do this only a few times a week.

Glow Up With Positive Vibes

Surround Yourself With Positive People

You need eliminate negativity from your life if you want to be happier. It might be individuals, bad habits, a job you despise, or anything else.

Spend enough time among unpleasant, gossipy, or critical people, and you’ll begin to act similarly. When we’re surrounded by people who lift us up, encourage us, and love us deeply, we’re considerably happier.

Someone may be detracting from your glow if you don’t feel energetic and happier after being with them. You have power to decide what energy to surround yourself with. Choose happy!

Use Positive Affirmations

For a bright start to your day, place sticky notes on your bathroom mirror and say positive affirmations out loud every morning. It improves your mood.

We all need a reminder now and then that we are deserving of happiness, success, love, respect, and everything else we desire. This only takes a second but you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how helpful it is.

The truth is that you can do everything you set your mind to, and affirmations are an amazing option to begin creating positive vibes.

Create Positive and Healthy Habits

Your habits will either make or break you.

The first time you do anything, or the tenth time, you don’t see the consequences. After dozens or hundreds of repetitions, habits multiply on each other.

It’s easy to convince ourselves that skipping today’s workout won’t hurt, but over time, you can tell whether a habit is helping or hurting you.

When months of not taking those small daily steps add up to you not achieving a goal, you start to notice the effects.

You don’t have to make a major adjustment. Small steps, done day after day, lead to progress.

Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.

Replace all of these bad influences with individuals and habits (like everything listed above) that are helpful to you! You won’t regret it!
