To help you stay on track with your snacking, we put together this comprehensive list of healthy keto options for your perfect keto snack.
Pepperoni Slices And/Or Salami Sticks
Pepperoni is a high-fat, protein-rich snack with zero carbs, which makes it ideal for keto. It’s also a decent source of zinc, which is essential for testosterone synthesis and fertility. With 0 carbs, 8g of protein and 9g of fat, this is the perfect keto snack.
Salami – sticks, chopped, or whole salami finds it’s way into a snack box more often than not. I always have some in the fridge and I make sure I buy more every week with my groceries to snack on.
Hard Boiled Eggs
Nowadays, you can buy hard-boiled eggs pre-cooked at your neighborhood grocery store. For this reason, they make an exceptional grab-and-go keto snack because you can even find them at the gas station.
If you’re tight on time, regular boiled eggs are great snacks too!
Olives, one of the best plant sources of fat you can find, are a great grab-and-go keto snack to pack.
Olives have long been known for their rich supply of heart healthy fats, which is just one reason why they make a great keto snack.
Olives also contain vitamin E, fiber, and other health promoting plant compounds that may reduce inflammation and prevent chronic diseases like osteoporosis.
A 3.5-ounce serving of olives comes in at about 145 calories, 15 grams of fat, and 4 grams of carbs, almost all of which come from fiber.
You can enjoy them plain or stuff them with feta or gorgonzola cheese to add some extra fat.
Avocados are one of the best low carb keto friendly snacks you can eat due to their exceptional quality fat content. They’re also a great grab-and-go keto snack. Sprinkle slices with sea salt, or use them to prepare a great guacamole when you have some time.
Thanks to their high content of heart-healthy fats, avocados make a great addition to a ketogenic diet. They’re also low in net carbs, with around 8.5 grams of carbs and nearly 7 grams of fiber in a 3.5-ounce serving.
You can even mix in some cayenne pepper or regular pepper for some extra spice.
Pork rinds are so great when you feel like you need that crunchy snack. I crave crunch!
Most pork rinds contain zero carbs and have just fat and protein. Perfect for keto and most low carb diets!
Even better, you can get them in a variety of flavors so you aren’t stuck with just the regular.
Also called cracklings, chicharrones, or pork crisps, these are a great zero carb treat when you want something salty and crunchy.
Sliced Cucumber – I take a cucumber slice it up and just sprinkle some lemon or lime with salt and pepper. It’s so good! You can also make cucumber boats!
Scoop the seeds out of cucumbers and stuff them with cheese and deli meats!
Maybe I’ll pop a couple in with the cucumbers for a little pop of flavor variation.
Literally my favorite food. It’s the perfect low carb salty snack that’s wonderful enjoyed on it’s own or you could dip a couple of pickles into sour cream for an extra sour hit.
Cream Cheese Celery
Simply stuff some celery with cream cheese and snack away!
Throw in some herbs or nuts for extra flavor.
These stuffed celery sticks are an easy but delicious keto-friendly snack that you can make at home before you leave for that road trip! Just stuff them and pack them in a small Tupperware container. If you have an ice pack, add that to your bag so your celery can last more than 3 hours. One serving is about 3-4 sticks.
Another convenient option you can easily bring along with you. Check out the ingredient list on the package before you buy, since many options have a high amount of added sugars, which is bad because sugars mean carbs.
Take a slice of turkey breast with a slice of cheese, wrapping lettuce around it, and squeezing mustard right down the middle for an easy, tasty, low carb snack.
There are so many possibilities! Here are some amazing recipes I’ve found:
Cheddar cheese, bleu cheese, feta, mozzarella — all types of cheese are fair game on the keto diet. For an easy-to-snack-on version that you can bring along to work or while you’re running errands, go for string cheese or wedges. Just be sure to choose full-fat varieties because fat is the key to the keto diet.
Who doesn’t love bacon?! You don’t need to make it and eat it right then and there. Why not make bacon chips!? Many people complain that they miss crunchy snacks on the keto diet. I was one of them, until I discovered that there are actually so many options when it comes to crispy and crunchy keto snacks. Here’s an amazing recipe I found:
Again, don’t just head down to your gas station and pick up a bag. Get the good stuff from Whole Foods or some place similar. Even better, they can be salted because your body will need the sodium and electrolytes that you lose from low carb dieting.
Pecans are the ultimate keto snack. Low in carbs, full of fiber, portable, and tasty raw or roasted, you can grab a small handful anytime to satisfy hunger between meals. They also contain over 19 vitamins and minerals and have various health benefits. One serving is about 1/4 cup or 1 oz.
These are one of the most popular nuts on the keto diet because of how high in fat they are and extremely low in carbs (2g). Plus, they are a great snack to pack to go and don’t require refrigeration! Paired with some cheese, and you’re set! One serving is about 1/4 cup.
Cheese is a quick snack that many love to pack on the go! There are many different varieties and sizes you can find in your grocery store. If you are looking to bring them with you, look for the prepackaged cheese cubes in your grocery store. If you cannot find them, cube your own cheese to take with you! Cheese is high in fat and protein and has less than 1g net carbs per ounce. A serving size is usually around seven cubes.
Tuna is a favorite of mine! You can grab easy, convenient tuna pouches almost anywhere. These perfectly portioned snacks also sometimes come with a little spoon that makes it even easier to grab-n-go. With so many different flavors to choose from, you can’t go wrong.
Cacao nibs are essentially dried bits of cacao beans, also known as cocoa beans. Cacao beans are what chocolate is made from.
Terrasoul Superfoods Criollo Cacao Nibs are my favorite. You can add them to a recipe or just grab a handful. They’ll satisfy your sweet tooth. This is a family owned brand so I feel good about supporting them while reaching my keto goals at the same time.
